Lundy’s Puffins – a conservation success story!

As a kid I was obsessed with puffins. I grew up on the North Devon coast, with views across the bay to their home on Lundy Island, so these clown faced-penguins were a bit of a legend to me. Then one day when I was about 8 years old, I got the chance to visit the island, and loved every second. Though there was one problem... where were all the puffins?

Save our Skylarks!

A skylark is one of those birds that you're far more likely to hear before you see! This is not for their small size, or tendency to hide themselves amongst long grass, but instead for their beautiful song. On bright, sunny days from the early spring, these modest birds will fill the warm air with their continuous chorus, right through to the end of summer. This has made them one of the most quintessential sounds of the British countryside. Unfortunately skylark populations have been on the decline...
