Wild swim at London Bridge arch, Devon

A few 100 meters around the corner from Torquay harbour, an impressive limestone archway grows high out of the sea and leans precariously against the headland. With the sun setting over Torbay, the London Bridge arch lends the perfect location for an evening dip…

Unless you walk across from town, the best place to park is at Daddyhole plain (TQ1 2LJ), from here, grab your swimmers and head back west along the coast path. Keep an eye out for a low-lying plateau just before you reach Peaked Tor cove and the Imperial Hotel. Access after climbing a low high wall is pretty steep, but worth the decent, just keep an eye out for conger eels!
